How can I make a good school newspaper?

Last year our school had a newspaper; however, it ended up dying. My dad is encouraging me to resurrect it and I would like to try. At the same time, I don't want it to flop and I don't want it to bore people. Could anyone give me suggestions how to make the newspaper good and interesting to my fellow students?
